Getting off to a good start with the dentist

Kimberley's first trip to have her teeth checked and despite all the warm words from the lady dentist and the promise of a sticker to say 'Ahhh', her lips were clamped shut as she shyly clung to me. She didn't fall for accompanying Daddy in singing 'Baa baa black sheep' but I managed to prise her bottom lip open after that briefly. Eventually, spooked by the whole experience, she burst out crying at which point the dentist could make a quick and professional assessment of the interior of her mouth - no sign of cavities with four milk teeth to come through. Kimberley got her Disney Princess sticker. I imagine this is a regular procedure for dentists when dealing with children.
